Fax:773-378-7442 Lunches - The next lunch order is due March 26. Lunch Cruise- The parents of this year’s 8th grade graduating class are planning a lunch cruise. The event will be on Saturday, May 19. The cost will be $57, which is due on March 5. Parents who have questions can contact Cynthia Curry at 773-613-9253 or at [email protected]. Grandparent’s Day-Wednesday, April 11th will be Grandparent`s day at St. Paul. The grandparents of our students will be invited to spend some time in the classroom and to eat lunch with their grandchildren in the gym. A catered lunch will be provided for the grandparents. Grandparents may arrive at 10:30 a.m. and will be free to leave shortly after lunch. Candy Sale- If you still have not turned in all your candy money, please do so. Thank you to all who participated. Progress Reports – Midterm progress reports were sent home last week. Parents need to sign and return them. Sports – Our girls’ basketball team lost the championship game of the Lutheran School League last Saturday. They finished the season with a record 19.5! Congratulations to Tyra Greene-West, who won the free throw contest! Secretary’s Corner Helping your child with Word-Solving – When an error is made in reading, WAIT! Don’t immediately correct your child. Give your child a chance to work independently. Fax: 773-378-7442 Pancakes Breakfast – Our Board of Education will sponsor an all-you-can-eat pancake from 8:30 to 9:30 am on Sunday, January 28. Pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, orange juice, grape juice, milk and coffee will be served. Omelets will be available for an extra $2.00. the cost is $4.00 for children and $6.00 for adults who purchase tickets in advance. The cost at the door is $5.00 for children and $7.00 for adults. Candy Sale – Our annual PTL – sponsored candy sale will begin January26, 2018 and end February 12, 2018. This year we will again have the variety pack of candy. The variety pack includes Hersey’s, KitKat, Reese’s and Twizzlers. There are 30 bars in each box and each bar sells for $2.00. The student who sells the most will receive a prize of $100. Second place will receive $75, third place will receive $50 and fourth will receive $25. No School – In commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, there will be no school on Monday, January 15, 2018. 2017 EDUCATION EXPENSE TAX CREDIT – If you made payments in 2017 for tuition, book fees and other educational expenses to St. Paul, you are eligible for a tax credit on your 2017 Illinois Income Tax Return. If you need a receipt from qualified expenses, please call or send a note to Ms. Smith Emergency School Closing Information… If it becomes necessary to close our school due to severe weather, parents can go to www.emergencyclosings.com and search for our school by name. Since there are 2 schools in Chicago named St. Paul, our school will be listed as St. Paul Lutheran School on Menard. Parents may also listen to the radio or TV for school closing information. TV channels 2, 5, 7, 9 and 32 should give periodic school closing information. Experience has shown that WGN is the most reliable station for the daily listing of school closings. Because our bodies cannot produce vitamins, our diets need to include foods that contains them. Each week a key vitamin will be highlighted. Vitamin a – helps with night vision, makes red blood cells and boost your immune system. Sources include sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, spinach, carrots, shrimp and salmon. |
